Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Pharmacogenomics
The Institute for Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy and the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, in Cooperation with the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
The Institute for Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy and Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics within the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, in cooperation with the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invite applications for a 12-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in one of the following areas within the field of cancer research: cancer pharmacogenomics, population pharmacogenomics, or systems pharmacology. The successful candidate will develop and maintain strong relationships with interdisciplinary translational research teams, as well as mentor graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and contribute to the mission of the School and Institute to employ an interdisciplinary approach to the discovery and delivery of individualized medical practice. The position includes laboratory space in the newly opened Genetic Medicine Building and a competitive start-up package.
The qualified candidate will have a PharmD, MD, PhD or related degrees in the specific area of expertise and will have successfully completed a 3-year postdoctoral or professional fellowship or the equivalent in work experience. This candidate should possess an established record of excellence in cancer research as reflected by peer-reviewed publications and have a portfolio of current or pending independent external support. Applicants with experience in leading community-based cancer research networks are encouraged to apply.
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is one of five health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Public Health and Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Institute for Pharmacogenomics and Individualized Therapy (IPIT) is a collaboration of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, the Gillings School of Global Public Health, the UNC School of Medicine, the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Carolina Center for Genome Sciences. IPIT?s mission is to employ an interdisciplinary approach to the discovery and application of precise treatment options for individual patients suffering from cancer and a wide range of conditions. Collaborative research opportunities exist with faculty from each of these entities and will be encouraged to achieve the mission of IPIT. The Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center was selected as a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in 1990. Its 290 members have well-funded research programs. In partnership with IPIT and the Schools of Public Health, Pharmacy and Medicine, the Center is building a large scale effort in translational research, personalized therapy and survivorship, quality of life and state-wide intervention.
The successful applicant will be appointed at the appropriate rank in the Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics within the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and will be expected to develop and maintain a peer-reviewed, funded research program. The successful candidate is expected to teach and advise students in our professional and doctoral degree programs in addition to leading a collaborative, externally funded translational research program.
