There is a vacancy at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover for the Chair of Virology. Depending on credentials, the holder will have the status of a German civil servant or be hired as a salaried employee at scale W3.
Responsibilities:
Candidates are expected to represent the discipline of Virology as well as, together with the Institute for Microbiology, the disciplines of Control of Epizootics and Infection Epidemiology in research, teaching and service provision. The scope also includes heading the European Community Reference Laboratory for Classical Swine Fever, embedded in the Institute of Virology. In addition, close cooperation with other university units, in particular of the Center for Infectious Diseases, the currently established Center for Zoonoses, the Center for Systemic Neurosciences and the inter-university Center for Infectious Biology is expected. Active participation in inter-university research groups is highly desired.
Qualifications:
Experience and scientific activities in research and teaching in the discipline of virology are basic requirements. Requirements include licence to practice veterinary medicine, pedagogical suitability, PhD or equivalent, postdoctoral qualification or equivalent academic qualification as well as veterinary board certification in an appropriate specialisation.
Supporting documents and results of teaching evaluation must be submitted with the application. Further requirements for the position are governed by section 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG).
